The 2019 IEEE Biomedical Circuits and Systems (BioCAS) conference was held in Nara, Japan from October 17-19, 2019. The conference theme in 2019 is “Intelligent symbiosis of man and machine to improve health”. It covered a wide range of topics synergistic with this theme,  including point-of-care technologies for health and disease, printable/flexible/wearable sensors and devices for health monitoring, artificial intelligence/machine learning for patient-specific healthcare, implanted sensors for management of chronic diseases e.g. diabetes. The conference invited Dr. Hiromi Yoshinari of Sysmex, Dr. Luca Berdondini of Fondazione Istituto Italiano Di Tecnologia, Dr. Takao Someya of the University of Tokyo, Dr. Boris Murmann of Stanford University and others to introduce the future of medical and healthcare scene, electrode array technologies, electronics for wearables, Mixed-Signal Circuit Techniques for Near-Sensor Machine Learning and Data Analysis and other important issues in the field of biomedical engineering. The conference presented approximately 100 posters and 40 orals, they were all corresponding to the conference theme.
