The 41st International Engineering in Medicine and Biology Conference (EMBC) was held in Berlin, Germany from July 23–27, 2019. The overarching theme is ‘Biomedical engineering ranging from wellness to intensive care’. Cutting-edge research and innovation in biomedical engineering, healthcare technology and medical informatics are all covered in this large conference. The conference invited Dr. Bruce Wheeler of the University of California, Dr. Vasilis Ntziachristos of Technical University of Munich, Dr. Gregoire Coutine of the Center for Neuroprosthetics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne (EPFL) and others to introduce biomedical engineering education, optical and optoacoustic imaging, neurotechnologies that restore walking after paralysis and other important issues in the field of biomedical engineering. The conference presented approximately 800 posters, covering 14 themes including biomedical signal processing, neural and rehabilitation engineering, pharmaceutical engineering and drug delivery systems, etc.
